Engineering, supply and installation of the complete process automation of the Warmtestad Power Station Zernike and Solar Park Dorkwerd.
For this project, Powerspex initially worked out the complete control philosophy, as well as the review of the process design. In addition, Powerspex was able to perform the complete engineering, supply and realization of the process automation.
The sustainable heat network in Groningen was constructed by WarmteStad. WarmteStad is the heat company of the Municipality of Groningen and the Groningen Water Company. It extracts sustainable heat from the sun, water and air. In this way, heat that would otherwise be lost is put to good use and more than 10,000 households are provided with this sustainable heat.
The heat network is heated by residual heat from nearby data centers. Through heat exchangers, this heat is utilized and further heated through heat pumps. The electricity of the heat pumps is supplied by its own electricity production using combined heat and power (CHP) units. The cogeneration coupling can also be operated as a standalone unit, possibly in combination with peak load / backup boilers when the demand for heat is extremely high.
The composition of the heat delivering units and buffers had not been delivered in the Netherlands before. Combined with a young WarmteStad organization, the project had a great learning character, with agility, understanding and customer friendliness being essential for successful cooperation and delivery.
After completion of the original order, follow-up orders were made for additions with solar thermal and an ATES system, which enable seasonal storage of heat and cold through a Middle Temperature Storage (MTO) and Low Temperature Storage (LTO).
