At Powerspex, work is currently in full swing for Spinning Jenny, the first Dutch factory to spin large quantities of yarn from recycled textiles. Lars Weiden and Jouke Dassen visited on behalf of Powerspex to see the progress of the project.
Operations manager Liset Pander took Weiden and Dassen on a comprehensive tour of the factory building.
"The story behind Spinning Jenny makes it extra fun to participate in," said project manager Weiden. "You realize that all the more when you stand in the middle of the spinning textile machines. A great opportunity to be involved in a project that is emphatically sustainable."

Sustainable goal
Spinning Jenny is a much-discussed factory in the Dutch "recycling world. It is seen as a company with a lot of potential; a market that could become very big. Old textiles are turned into new yarn, thus preventing a lot of loss of energy and labor and making the textile waste mountain - which is very high - a little smaller.
The company is named after an important spinning machine in Twente textile history called spinning jenny.

Tasks Powerspex
Powerspex provided the installation work for Spinning Jenny in Nijverdal: the power supplies from the transformers to the machines and included power dividers so that the machines could be switched off separately. Powerspex also assisted with the electrical work of the machine builders.
"At Spinning Jenny, we don't let our automation work so much. Here we support them as much as possible in the electrical field," Weiden said. "Phase 1 of the project is now operational. Phase 2 has started. In it, the same line will be set up. We as Powerspex are also happy to be involved in that again."
