A vacancy for electrical and instrumentation technician is available at Powerspix. Actually, they are two vacancies for the same position, because there are vacancies for mechanics for both the Hengelo location and the Veenendaal location.
The vacancy is intended for MBO students with a degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics, who like to go out for work.
"Because you won't be working in the office much," says E&I mechanic Chris ter Borg. "Mechanics usually work outside the door, on projects. We also come to the office, for preparation, planning and consultation, but most of the time we go on the road."
Your working day
What will the new electrical and instrumentation engineer's working day look like?
Ter Borg: "Usually you drive from home to the work location, unless colleagues or materials from the workshop have to come along. Once at the location, there will be coffee and at 7.30 am we will get to work. Where you work is constantly changing, as is the nature of the work. If a supplier installs the machines, we take care of the connection. Pulling cables, connecting installations, building cable trays; that kind of work. We also often work on projects where Powerspex installs its own parts, such as instrumentation in a biomass plant. In addition, Powerspex usually has the engineering in its own hands, which means that we as mechanics are often more than just the 'hands' on a project."
Looking for new colleagues
What kind of colleague are you hoping for?
"To a colleague with the same motivation as all of us. Someone who likes to work together with his colleagues to achieve a good result. There is no lack of fun during this work, but there is a lot of work to be done."
