Hardware engineering

From the complete control panel to the smallest signal.

From panel to the smallest signal

From complete control panels to the smallest signal connected to them: our hardware engineers design it in detail.

From panel to the smallest signal

The design does not stop at the panel itself. Our engineers also consider everything connected to and controlled by it — cable diameters, SIL loops, intrinsically safe (IS) loops, power ratings, and high and low voltage — in accordance with the applicable standards.

The control panels are assembled in our own workshop and designed using the Eplan (P8/Propanel) engineering package.

What the design includes

Electrical design

Electrical schematics, component selection, and complete documentation, developed in Eplan (P8/Propanel).

Safety loop

SIL loops and intrinsically safe (IS) loops, designed according to applicable standards.

Power and voltage

Cable diameters, capacities, and high and low voltage, tailored to the requirements of the installation.

From design to panel

The design extends into the in-house workshop, where the panel is assembled and tested.

Hardware engineering as a standalone service

At Powerspex, hardware engineering isn't only in service of our own workshop. Companies that have their panel building done elsewhere can also take our design work as a standalone service — from electrical schematics to complete documentation.

Our hardware engineers also specialize in functional safety: making sure an installation stays safe in the event of a fault, through correctly designed SIL loops and safety circuits. That's a different discipline from explosion safety (ATEX) — functional safety is about the control system itself, not the explosive atmosphere around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

A question we regularly get about hardware engineering as a service.

Yes. For us, hardware engineering isn't only support for our own workshop. We also deliver the design as a standalone service — from electrical schematics to complete documentation — which you can then have built yourself or through another party.
