E&I and process automation – E-Wood biomass plant Beveren
Situation at the client
Commissioned by E-Wood, Standardkessel Baumgarte constructed a biomass plant in the Port of Antwerp, in which non-recyclable wood is used for the generation of sustainable energy and heat.
Challenge
The complete electrical, instrumentation, and safety package had to be designed and integrated as a single coherent whole, even though every part — from the DCS to emergency power — carried its own requirements and risks.
Powerspex's approach
Powerspex executed the project integrally, including engineering of the electrical installation, complete E&I cabling with cable trays, supply of distribution panels and MCCs, implementation of the Yokogawa Centum VP DCS, the Siemens S7-400F safety system, installation of instrumentation, uninterruptible power systems, video systems, and commissioning with operator training.
Result
The biomass plant has been successfully commissioned with a stable, safe, and well-manageable E&I and automation solution.
